Can you get Discord on PS4? Yes, of course, you can! Using the PS4’s Party Chat option is fine, but if you’re all friends and Discord members, you’ll want to be able to join in while you play. Discord is the voice and text chat app most used by gamers.
How to Connect Discord to Chat on PS4?
With a wide variety of PS4 exclusive games and standalone PS4 games to choose from, Discord is the perfect way to keep in touch with fellow PS4 players across a wide variety of games. When the PS5 launches sometime in 2020, we also expect Sony’s next-generation PlayStation to be Discord compatible for PS5 games.
You might be wondering if Discord will work on PS4? Many gamers use it on desktops or phones, but there is a way to use Discord on PS4 and other consoles. There are a few steps you’ll need to take to get Discord set up on your console.
Setting-Up Discord PS4
Use a headset that supports a USB connection and has an optical cable. We used a couple of V-Moda Crossfades cans, but we also have the Astro TXD Mixamp. You’ll need this or something similar to switch the audio between the console and the PC.
- Connect the optical cable between your Mixamp and the PS4.
- Go to Settings> Sound & Display> Audio Output Settings
- Change the main output to digital output (optical).
- Connect the USB port to your base station and the other end to the PC
- Make sure your base station is in PC mode
- Start Discord on your PC and change the input device in the voice settings in your Mixamp
- Use a 3.5mm audio jack and run it from your computer speaker output to the mix amplifier
- Return to the voice settings in Discord and change the output device to your PC speakers.
